About

HomeImage-e1523568258285.pngMichelle Ngo is a multilingual creative Swiss-Army knife (producer, writer, shooter, editor, motion graphics, and UX Designer) that cuts through all media platforms.  Her professional path started with a pen and moved through film, television, UX Design, and into the exciting realm of Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality.

While teaching English in Japan, Michelle loved the various stories she heard from her students that ranged from age 3 to age 80.  In an attempt to improve her Japanese to talk to others easily, she took an internship  at a Japanese-English magazine, Hiragana Times in Tokyo, which quickly turned into becoming their top feature writer and associate editor.  Since then, she continued her work in print as a writer/photographer for the launch of Asian Food Journal (now Chopsticks NYC), and an assistant photo editor at O, The Oprah Magazine. Michelle Ngo quickly moved into the fast-paced world of U.S. broadcast news (ABC Newsone, Network News Service, Associated Press) while learning the ropes in documentary films and Internet media.

Michelle has worked on a number of acclaimed documentaries including the Oscar nominated and Emmy-winning film, The Betrayal, End of America, Moms Mabley, and Lenny Cooke .  Her other works have aired on HBO, Showtime, ESPN, PBS, Discovery Channel, TLC, and TV One.  She has worked independently creating videos for various non-profits as well as with top agencies such MRM-McCannHavas WorldwidePorter Novelli Public RelationsTalkpoint, and BrightTalk  producing various videos, webcasts, and thought leadership events for Fortune 500 companies.  She also has experience in transmedia storytelling with her work with BoomGen Studios in NYC working on ground breaking projects such as All-American Muslim, Operation Ajax, and Rostam as well as producing Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality projects with USPS.  Given all the new technologies used in storytelling, she built her own set of skills as a UX Designer (check out her Medium recommended article on UX and films here)

She is a member of New York Women in Film and Television. She also was a scholarship recipient to the inaugural 20/20/20 Digital Film Program hosted by Stony Brook University – Southampton Arts and Killer Films.  She volunteers her time participating in various activities with her Buddhist organization, Soka Gakkai International (SGI-USA), that promotes peace through culture and education, likes playing foreign language games to brush up on her language skills (Japanese, Spanish, Vietnamese), can make a mean Vietnamese meal, play more than just a few chords on the guitar, and can do a few cool capoeira moves.
